Origin Sciences Limited, based in Cambridge (UK), is a medical technology company specialising in devices and methods that aid detection and diagnosis of lower-gastrointestinal diseases such as Colorectal Cancer (CRC) and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). The company was established in 2003 as Colonix Limited, before ultimately changing its name to Origin Sciences Limited in 2010.

Following several years of intensive research and development of the core product, Origin Sciences is to shortly enter a commercial phase with the launch of the eDNA (exfoliated DNA) test for the detection of CRC and IBD in symptomatic patients.

Research and development is also underway in associated fields. This research is based on the analysis of material in samples collected using the Origin Sciences Rectal Cell Sampling Device. This medical device provides a unique methodology to collect and preserve cellular material from the surface of the human rectal mucosa and to store it for subsequent laboratory analysis.
